Debbie’s passion for the sport has taken her into the teaching side of swimming, and she has been involved in teaching since 1992.
Fully qualified with the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) and a specialist qualification in Adult & Child, she has taught all aspects of the ASA’s Learn to swim programme. In 2007, I qualified as a Water fitness instructor, and now teach it twice a week as well as covering at other Leisure Centres around the area.
As a mother of 3, trust, safety & confidence are of utmost importance to me and therefore we only employ staff that are experienced, fully qualified (ASA Level 2 teacher certification) and CRB checked. Our teachers are also encouraged to hold a first aid and rescue qualification, and they attend regular courses to keep them up to date with current legislation.
With all our years of teaching experience, we pride ourselves on our knowledge and understanding of what is required to run a personal & professional swimschool. We believe that classes should remain small, and we will allow a maximum of 6 children in any class, regardless of age or ability. Our teachers get in the water with the children, and often an assistant is there too, this means that the children get the attention and time that they deserve.
The ethos behind A.S.T is learning to swim should be an enjoyable and fun experience, with the outcome being a confident swimmer that will go onto enjoy swimming and playing in the water throughout their lives.
